2017 Swim BC Open - Day 2

The second and final day of the 2017 Swim BC Senior Open kicked off Sunday with the 4x100m freestyle relay. The UVIC-PCS Womens ‘A’ team captured first with a time of 4:00.19, while the KISU Mens ‘A’ team won with a time of 3:44.43.

Some highlights of the session came from the 400m Free Mens 17 & over category where Hau-Li Fan (UBCDS) out touched Jon McKay (UVIC-PCS) by .18, finishing with a time of 4:02.61. In the Para 100m Freestyle, the top 2 finishers, Tyler Mrak S13SB13SM13 (KCS) and Logan Godsoe S10SB9SM10 (WRSC), both went best times with 1:01.56 and 1:10.65 respectively. Ian Goodyear S8SB8SM8 (COMOX) finished third with a time of 1:11.76. The Women’s 200m IM produced a tight finish in the top 3, as Bailey Herbert (LOSC), Amanda McCallum (RAPID), and Sophia Brunoro (SFA) all finished within 2 seconds of each other.


The Women's 800 Freestyle featured close races in both categories to wrap up the meet. On the 16 & under side, Octavia Lau (HYACK) beat her seed time and won the event with a time of 9:03.02 over Chantel Jeffrey (SELKIRKS), who also managed to beat her seed time and finished just behind with a time of 9:06.07. The 17 & over side also produced a race that came down to the wire, as Mia Bottrill (HYACK) went a 9:27.17 over Ella Milloy’s (ISC) time of 9:29.19. Fantastic swims by all to close out the 2017 Swim BC Senior Open.
