2017 SwimBC AAA Champs SCM - Day 2

It was another blisteringly fast night of racing at Saanich Commonwealth pool Friday evening! Some highlights of the evening include the Girls 16-18 200m Butterfly, with a tight race for gold between Jordyn Ryan (ISC) and Stella Jin (HYACK). Both girls were under the meet record time. Another tight podium finish came from the Boys 12-13 100m Backstroke, with the top 3 boys touching within 0.43 seconds. The top 6 swimmers were all within 3 seconds!

Provincial records continued to fall this evening. Jade Hannah posted a 58.97 in the Girls 14/15 100 meter backstroke, almost breaking the record by a full second. Emma Drohan (VPSC) broke national team member Noemie Thomas’s 200 meter Butterfly record in the Girls 12/13 200 m Butterfly by 5 one hundredths of a second. The UVPCS Girls 14 and under relay team also snuck under the 7 year old provincial record mark in the 4x50m Freestyle relay.

On the girls side, Madisen Jacques (HYACK) posted two meet records: first in the Girls 11 and under 200m IM and then in the Girls 100m Backstroke. Molly Gowans (ISC) broke the Girls 16-18 100m backstroke. Mackenzie Padington (ISC) broke the Girls 16-18 400m Freestyle record by 2 seconds. Both of the boys meet record were broken by Sergey Chernomorchenko (PSW) in the Boys 11 and under 200m IM and 200m Butterfly.

On team scores, it is a close battle in the top 3 spots, with all three teams within 140 points. There are lots of really tight races for team points.
