Swimmer Registration Status in REMS – Eligibility for Swim Meets

To be eligible for swim meets, swimmers must have an ACTIVE status in REMS. This is achieved when their personal information is updated, all required waivers are signed, and all invoices are marked as paid in REMS.

Please note that the activation process may take up to three (3) weeks due to the process by which clubs pay Swim BC and Swimming Canada invoices through Swim BC. Both organizations then independently mark the invoices as paid in REMS.

Registrant Membership Status Options

Eligibility Requirements for Divisionals and Provincials

To be eligible for Divisionals and Provincials, swimmers must have an ACTIVE status in REMS. This status is achieved when:

  1. Personal Information: The swimmer’s personal information is updated in REMS.
  2. Required Waivers: All required waivers are signed in REMS.
  3. Invoices: All invoices are marked as paid in REMS.

Please note that the activation process may take up to three (3) weeks due to the process by which clubs pay Swim BC and Swimming Canada invoices through Swim BC. Both organizations then independently mark the invoices as paid in REMS.

Important: Swimmers must have active status before the entry deadline to be eligible for Divisionals and Provincials. Please plan accordingly to avoid any delay.

Entries submitted without a valid registration number and active status in the REMS at the time of the entry deadline will be denied entry. It is the responsibility of the swimmer’s club to ensure all athletes have an ‘ACTIVE’ registration status in REMS.

We are proud to share the inspiring journey of Doctor Jeremy Bagshaw. He was born in Singapore, spent his early childhood in Indonesia, and later relocated with his family to Victoria. He studied at St. Michael’s University School and received training at Island Swimming, where he swam with UVic alumnus and Olympian Ryan Cochrane.

He first got to represent Canada at the 2009 Junior Pan Pacific Championships before gaining multi-sport games experience at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 where he won the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle. In 2015 he was part of Team Canada at Pan Am Games where he helped Canada win bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay while making the finals in the 200m and 400m freestyle events. He returned to the Pan Am Games at Santiago in 2023, again winning a bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay and a finalist in the 200m freestyle. He came home from the 2022 Commonwealth Games with a bronze medal after swimming the preliminaries of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.

Bagshaw continued his success as an NCAA at the University of California-Berkeley, where he swam for the California Golden Bears. In 2014, he was appointed team captain, leading the Bears to victory in the NCAA championship. After completing his undergraduate studies, Bagshaw came back to Victoria to train with his club at Saanich Commonwealth Place and work towards a Master of Science in Kinesiology at UVic.
During the Paris Olympics 2024, his team placed 7th in the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay heat 2.

Following the Olympics, Bagshaw plans to transition from the pool to a medical career, as he gets ready to begin work at the Royal London Hospital in the U.K. just two days after the closing ceremony in Paris on Aug. 11. Bagshaw recently graduated from medical school in Limerick, Ireland.
