Canadian Sport Institute & PacificSport Athlete and Coach Registration
Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, through a partnership with the Province of British Columbia (BC), viaSport, the network of PacificSport centres, and Swim BC, collaborates to deliver programs and services in an effort to place BC athletes onto National Teams, and ensure athletes and coaches have every advantage to win medals for Canada. The partners work jointly to encourage sport excellence and increase podium performances in communities throughout BC.
Swim BC seeks to align its performance objectives with Swimming Canada in developing athletes, including following the Swimming Canada Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model towards the High Performance outcome of athletes with one or more Top 8 world rankings, with continual progression towards, and the achievement of, Olympic podium performances.
Swim BC assists in the development of athletes through its Provincial Team camps and competitions, as well as providing enhanced services to select targeted athletes. Swim BC nominates selected athletes and their coaches as outlined below for enhanced programs and services support through the Canadian Sport Institute and the network of PacificSport Regional Centres in BC, and Engage Sport North, the re-branded centre in Prince George.
Commonly referred to as "Provincial Carding", this is now known as "Canadian Sport Institute & PacificSport - Athlete and Coach Registration", modeled after the Sport Canada AAP carding, and provides Senior international-level athletes with funding and resources to pursue excellence. The Canadian Sport Institute / PacificSport / Engage Sport North registration is broken into levels, each with a slate of designated services, some of which are free and others of which are provided on a fee-for-service basis.

Identified swimmers and their coaches are nominated by Swim BC based on the athlete criteria below. Any enquiries regarding these selection criteria can be made to Swim BC Performance Director or designate.
Athletes and coaches must register with their local centre to initiate their access to program and services and is a requirement for any nominated swimmer eligible to receive athlete support through Swim BC’s Athlete High Performance grants.
Notification letters will be sent out to approved swimmers and coaches in early December, informing them of their acceptance into the program, along with the process for them to register with their appointed centre
