Thirty-two 11-12 and 13-14 year old swimmers travelled to Cerritos California representing Team B.C. at the Pacific Coast All-Star Meet this weekend. Team B.C. was led by Amy Sun (WVOSC) and Noemie Thomas (WDSC) who both won 2 gold medals. Amy won the 13-14 girls 500 and 200 yard Freestyles. Noemie took both the 100 and 200 yard Butterflies.
The team finished fourth over-all. Northern and Southern California tied for top spot followed by Pacific Northwest Swimming (Washington). Team B.C did close the gap on Pacific Northwest this year finishing 82 points behind as compared to almost 200 a year ago. Improvements came from three areas; over-all racing, improvement in turn skills and team support.
The relay team of McKenzie Summers (WDSC), Charlotte Philpotts (WVOSC), Thomas and Danica Ludlow (PGB) raced to second spot in the 200 Medley relay and third in the 400 Medley relay. Sun, Ludlow, Philpotts and Meghan Kwiatkowski (WDSC) were second in a very tight race in the 400 Freestyle relay. Thomas, Ludlow, Sun and Philpotts were third in the 200 Freestyle relay
The 11-12 boys relay consisting of Darren Yuan (PSW), David Zhang (PSW), Mckenzie Branham (WVOSC) and Markus Thormeyer (WDSC) finished second in the 200 Freestyle relay. Edwin Zhao (PSW), Branham, Yuan and Zhang were third in the 400 Medley relay and third in the 400 Freestyle relay.
