2015 Regional Camps - LMR-1 Prospects

SwimBC ran its first Prospects camp of the season, and the first in a new format, on November 8-9, in Richmond, with a very enthusiastic group of six Prospects-aged (13-15yr. girls and 14-16yr. boys) swimmers. Led by Regional Coach, Mike Flegel, along with Provincial Teams Coordinator, Carrie Matheson and CDSC Assistant Coach, Travis Kam, the group thoroughly enjoyed the experience, gathering some baseline testing and measurement data, plus taking in a lot of learning.

2014 Regional Age Group Camp - Lower Mainland #2

The final Regional Age Group camp of 2014 took place at the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre this past weekend, with 26 swimmers from across the Lower Mainland coming out to the camp. We were joined throughout the camp by 2012 Olympian, Alec Page, who shared his story of starting out swimming in little lakes on Cortez Island off of Campbell River, to walking onto the pool deck in London in 2012 to swim the prelims of 400IM in the same heat as Michael Phelps.

2014 SwimBC Regional Camp - Thompson-Okangan-Kootenay

SwimBC’s second Regional Camp of the season took place on October 25-26, in Kamloops, with swimmers from the Thompson-Okanagan, as well as Kootenay region in attendance. We were once again, very fortunate and pleased to have former World Champion and Olympic medalist, Brent Hayden, in attendance, and his heartfelt message of perseverance, determination, and achievement at whatever level, struck a chord with the swimmers and coaches present.

VIR Regional Camp - Nov. 24-25

SwimBC’s Regional Camp program took its traveling roadshow to the Crystal Pool in Victoria for a camp with most of the best young swimmers from the Vancouver Island Region. Helping us out at this camp once again was National Champion and Record-holder, Scott Dickens, who, as always, impressed the swimmers and coaches in attendance with his stories of what it takes to become among the best in the world, and lessons learned – some the hard way – along that road.

LMR Regional Camp #1 - Nov. 2-3, 2013

SwimBC’s third Regional Camp of the season took place in Chilliwack on November 2-3, as 32 of the Lower Mainland’s best swimmers came together to learn about and work on their swimming skills and gain inspiration. We were very pleased to have Canadian Record-holder and two-time Olympian, Scott Dickens assisting at the camp, as he provided significant insight for the swimmers on what it takes to make it to among the very best in the world.

NorthEast Regional Camp - Nov. 23-24, 2013

While it was one of the smaller of our Regional Camps, the enthusiasm and focus of the 22 swimmers who participated in the second of SwimBC's Regional Camps for the 2013-2014 season will be hard to surpass. As mentioned to the swimmers at the camp, we've been doing the camps in the Northeast for over half a decade now, and the group this year was by far the best in terms of who well they stayed on task and the improvement they showed in all of the skills.

Thompson-Okanagan-Kootenay 2013 Regional Camp

Forty-one swimmers from clubs ranging from Kamloops, through the Okangan, and all the way out to Trail and Cranbrook, attended SwimBC's first Regional Camp of the 2013-2014 season. The camp was led by SwimBC Regional Coach and Acting Provincial Coach, Mike Flegel, with assistance from SwimBC's Program Coordinator, Carrie Matheson.
