The Team Aquatic Supplies SwimBC Senior Circuit meet took place on Friday-Saturday at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria, and Hayley Johnson of UBCD was the sole money-winner in the meet.
Team Aquatic Supplies puts up $1000 in prize money for the meet, with $300 going to the top swimmer who scores a minimum of 1600 FINA points in their two highest-scoring events.
With a number of BC's top swimmers having just returned from Commonwealth Games a couple weeks ago and in the transition stage of their training cycle and thus bypassing the meet, the door was open for other swimmers to step up.
Johnson's 1:10.52 in 100 Breast and 2:33.80 in 200 Breast gave her a total of 1633 FINA points, and as it turned out, she was the only swimmer to crack that threshold at the meet. Sean Penhale (IS) had the next highest-scoring swim with a 4:04.40 756-point effort in 400 Free.
With $700 in prize money not claimed, that will be added to the approximately $5000 prize pool that is going to be up for grabs at the Team Aquatic Supplies SwimBC Senior Championships in Vancouver in March.
SwimBC thanks Team Aquatic Supplies for its support of SwimBC programs, and in particular, our Senior-level meets.
