BC Results Day 3 at Westerns

On the third day of the Western Canadian Championships, BC Youth athletes came to the fore with three gold medals.  At this meet, "Youth" are 15&U girls and 16&U boys; older swimmers are in the "Open" category.

Charlotte Philpotts (WVOSC) led start to finish, taking the gold medal in the Youth 200 Butterfly. Joe Byram (VKSC) added second gold medal for himself in the Youth 200 Backstroke. Keegan Zanatta (IS) won his second gold in the Youth 400 Freestyle.

David Hibberd (SFA) raced to second place in the Open 100 Freestyle. Brenna Maclean (WVOSC) took silver in the Open 200 Butterfly. Alec Page (IS) finished strong to earn his silver medal in the Youth 200 Butterfly and then followed that up with another silver in the 400 Freestyle. Mariya Chekanovych (SFA) touched the wall for second spot in the Youth 50 Breaststroke, as did Matthew Hua (Hyack).

Bronze medalists were Rachel Newman (PCS) Youth 200 Butterfly, Daniella Szalkai (LOSC) Open 200 Butterfly, Ciaran McDonnell (SFA) Open 200 Butterfly, James McQuade (WVOSC) Open 200 Backstroke and Bronwyn Pasloski (WGB) Open 50 Breaststroke. The SFA 4 x 100 Medley Open relay team of Paolo Olavario, Julian Monks, Ciaran McDonnell and David Hibberd also won a bronze medal.
