Final Day - BC Results at Westerns

Saving the best for last, BC swimmers had their best night of the meet in terms of the gold medal haul at the Speedo Western Canadian Championships in Saskatoon on Sunday night.

All told, BC swimmers came away from the final day of competition with SEVEN wins.

Keegan Zanatta (IS) won his third gold medal of the meet winning the Youth 200 Freestyle. Mariya Chekanovych (SFA) grabbed her second win in the Youth 100 Breaststroke.

Sean Nugent (SFA) took the Open 100 Breaststroke. Katie Caldwell (PSW) and Alec Page (IS) won their respective Youth 200 I.M.’s. Marcus Chu (UBCD) won the Youth 50 Backstroke. Will Brothers (IS) took the Youth 1500 Freestyle.

Silver medalists were; Matthew Hua (Hyack) Youth 100 Breaststroke, Joe Byram (VKSC) Youth 200 I.M. and 50 Backstroke, Charlotte Philpotts (WVOSC) Youth 100 Butterfly, Brenna Maclean (WVOSC) Open 100 Butterfly, and Duncan Gleed (LOSC) Open 100 Butterfly.

Bronze medals went to; Bronwyn Pasloski (WGB) Open 100 Breaststroke, David Hibberd (SFA) Open 100 Breaststroke, Evan Broderick (SFA) Youth 100 Breaststroke and 200 I.M., Samantha Corea (UBCD) Open 100 Butterfly and Sherry Lui (SFA) Youth 800 Freestyle.
