IS Takes Back Lead After Day 3 At TAS BC Long Course Champs

The back-and-forth battle between Island Swimming and Vancouver Pacific Swim Club for the top spot in team scoring went back to Island Swimming on Saturday night at the 2010 Team Aquatic Supplies BC Long Course Championships in Kamloops.

Heading into Sunday’s final day of competition, IS held a narrow 79-point lead over VPSC, with 2963.5 points to VPSC’s 2884.5.

Langley Olympians held onto their places with 2131 points, just over a hundred points ahead of fourth-place Hyack Swim Club (2005.5). Pacific Sea Wolves (1436.5 points) rounded out the top five.

The top swim of the meet for the girls stayed with Alexandra Gabor (WGB), but she bettered her 773-point swim in 100 Free with a 788-point swim in 200 Free (2:02.29). Kierra Smith (LLSC) scored a 750-point swim in 100 breast (1:10.93) to be second best.

Saturday’s races saw the Island Swimming freestyle boys take over the top spots in the race for the high point score. Craig Dagnall (726 points) and Amieson King (716 points) took over the top two spots with their 1500 Free performances (16:03.13 and 16:17.24, respectively). Keegan Zanatta’s 1:54.92 in 200 Free scored 699 FINA points to place him in third.

And Edwin Zhao (PSW) continued his quest to run the table and take home gold in each of his individual events as he won 200 Free and 200 Back.

Sunday is the final day of the meet, with the finals session once again starting at 5:30pm; full results are available online here
