Canadian Age Group Champs Kick Off in Winnipeg

The Canadian Age Group Championships are off and running in Winnipeg. Almost 1400 swimmers from across the nation are competing in the five day event. Preliminaries are run in two pools with the finalists coming together in the very fast main tank of the Pan-Am pool.

Stefanie Schmidt of UVIC-PCS was the first B.C. gold medalist on the night. She swam to first place in convincing fashion in the 200 Backstroke for 15 year old girls. Peter Brothers of Island Swimming stroked to the gold medal in the 13&U boys 1500 Freestyle

1500 Freestyle; Taylor Paddington IS, 16-18, Michael McDonald LOSC 14 years, Zac Parkes UVIC-PCS 16-18 years

100 Fly; Samantha Corea VPSC, 16-18 years.

200 Back; Nina Takahashi VPSC, 12&U, Meghan Kwiatkowski WDSC ,14 years, Emily Gerson HYACK, 16-18 years, Luke Reilly WDSC, 14 years, Travis Kam CDSC, 15 years, Dimitar Ivanov SFA, 16-18.

50 Breast; Kierra Smith LLSC 16-18
