SwimBC's 2011-2012 hosted events got underway October 28-29, with the Team Aquatic Supplies SwimBC Senior Circuit meet held at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria, and once again the powerful breastroke squad from UBC led the way with the top performances at the meet.
$1000 in prize money from Team Aquatic Supplies was up for grabs at this long course meet, with prize money going to the top five swimmers, based on combined FINA point score across a swimmer's two highest-scoring swims.
UBC Thunderbirds' Martha McCabe, bronze medalist this past summer at World Championships in Shanghai, had the highest point score with 838 in 200 Breast adding to her 774 in 100 Breast from day 1 to give her a total point score of 1612. The win gave her a $300 payday.
While McCabe won handily, with almost 50 points separating her from second-place, the next four places were bunched closely together. Rounding out the rest of the top five (accruing $250, $200, $150, $100, respectively) were the following:
- Tera Van Beilen (UBCT): 1564 pts (799 in 200 Breast, 765 in 100 Breast)
- Noemie Thomas (VAND): 1554 pts. (783 in 200 Fly, 770 in 100 Fly)
- Heather MacLean (UBCT): 1545 pts. (804 in 200 Free, 741 in 100 Free)
- Haylee Johnson (VAND): 1534 pts. (776 in 200 Breast, 758 in 100 Breast)
