Just over six weeks since the first meet of the new season, and BC records are already tumbling. This past weekend at the Rapids Fastswim Classic in Richmond, three records were surpassed, with Edwin Zhao (PSW) accounting for two of them - in 13-14 boys 400 and 1500 Free.
While shaving just a few tenths off the 400 Free time (4:02.56 from the previous 4:02.84), he destroyed the previous 1500 Free record by lopping off over 20 seconds, posting 15:52.70 from the previous 16:13.74.
The other record came from the Vancouver Dolphins' 15-17 boys 200 Free relay team of Edward Zhao, Ryan Anderson, Jonathan Kraft, and Sergey Holson, who took .19 seconds off the previous record to finish in 1:34.31.
To cap off the record setting at the meet, Nathan Stein (SKSC) also set a new Canadian record in men's para-swimming 50 Breast in the SB9 class, clocking a time of 31.32.
