Day 2 at TAS BC AAA Champs

Island Swimming continued to hold the lead through the second day of competition at the Team Aquatic Supplies AAA Age Group Championships at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria.

Two more records were also set at the meet, both by a mere 5/100ths of a second.  The first came from James Dergousoff (CHENA) in the 14-year-old boys 400 IM, as he broke the 13-14 boys record set by Phillip Weiss in 1994 record, clocking 4:36.09.

The second record came from one of the newer SwimBC clubs.  Wayland Swim Club out of Richmond, which formed in 2006, set its first-ever provincial record as the team of Steven SuanShi, Paul Wang, Daniel Liu, and Harry Duan broke the 11&12 boys provincial record with a time of 2:04.79 in the 200 medley relay.

Top swims of the meet continued to be from the distance events on Thursday, with Alec Page's 817 FINA points in 1500 Free and Sherry Liu's (HYACK) 806 points in 800 free setting the standard.

Ben Neufeld (COMOX) and Danica Ludlow (PGB) are three-for-three in wins in their individual events, with Neufeld winning 11&U boys 1500 Free, 200 Back, and 400 IM, while Ludlow picked up wins in 800 Free, 100 Free, and 200 Back.  Half a dozen other swimmers are two-for-two in their individual events.

Top five team scores are as follows:

  1. Island Swimming - 1480
  2. Hyack - 1020
  3. Vancouver Pacific - 835
  4. Pacific Sea Wolves - 734
