New National Record For Overholt

While it wasn't the clean sweep of the gold medals in 200 Breast from the previous day, BC swimmers nonetheless had a dominating performance in the 200 Fly events, highlighted by Emily Overholt's National record-breaking performance.

While she finished second in the 15&U girls category to Haley Black (PGB), who continued her strong showing throughout this meet, Overholt's time of 2:12.12 broke the existing 13-14 girls National record by over a second.  That race was followed by Kierra Smith (LLSC) taking silver in the Open women age category, and shortly thereafter, Nicolaas Dekker (RAPID), Stefan Milosevic (HYACK), and Sterling King (PGB) swept the medals, in that order in the 16&U boys age group.  David Dmitrov (LLSC) then came within a tenth of a second of winning the open men's event with his silver-medals performance.

Also winning a gold medal were Maran Kokoszka (RAC), who picked up her first win at National-level competition with a victory in 15&U girls 200 Back, Hillary Metcalfe (LOSC) in 15&U girls 50 Breastroke, Julian Monks in men's 50 Breastroke, and Sterling King (PGB) and Keegan Zanatta (IS) both notching wins in their respective 400 Free races.

Other BC medalists from the evening's finals session included the following: Nicole Cossey (SFU, but competing unattached) silver in women's 100 Free; Jonathan Kraft (VAND) bronze in men's 100 Free; Milosevic bronze in 15&U boys 200 back; Dimitar Ivanov (SFU) silver in men's 200 Back; Kierra Smith silver in women's 50 Breast; James Dergousoff (CHENA) bronze in 16&U boys 50 Breast; Danica Ludlow (PGB) silver in 15&U grils 400 Free; Sherry Liu (HYACK) bronze in women's 400 Free.
