2012 Canadian Age Group Championships - Open Water

Spear-headed by wins from Zac Parkes (18) and Victoria Mock (15), UVic-Pacific Coast Swimming tied for the overall team title in the Open Water race of the 2012 Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary on Monday, amassing the same 168-point total as Edmonton Keyano Swim Club.

Both UVic-PCS swimmers won their respective 5km races handily, with Mock having a 113-second margin of victory, and Parkes winning by a full four minutes, being the only swimmer to break the one-hour barrier, hitting the touch pad at the finish in 56:34.00.

Also adding to the UVic-PCS point total were Heidi Ullrich (14) who was second, Jackson Sinclair (15yrs. 5th-place) and Jon McKay (16yrs. 6th place).

The other SwimBC event age group winner were Josh Zakala (KAJ), who won the 14-yr. boys race, and Imani Theodore (CDSC) who won the 12-yr. boys race 2.5km race.

Island Swimming teammates Erin Lawrance (12) and Molly Heaney-Corns (14) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, while Vancouver Dolphins teammates Jonathan Kraft and Justin Chan finished fifth-sixth in the 17-18 boys age category.
