BC swimmers came up big on the final night of competition, as a trio of SwimBC records were broken, one of them also being a National record.
It was a banner day for the Chena Swim Club, as 16-year-old James Dergousoff broke a 13-year-old SwimBC record in the men's 200 Breast, also winning the silver in that event. A short time later, he contributed to CHENA's 4x100MR team along with Tim Zeng, Robert Hill, and Nicholas Hernandez to break the Canadian record for 15-17yr. boys in that event.
Emily Overholt (WVOSC) added to the record-breaking bonanza with her own SwimBC record in the women's 200IM, winning bronze in that race.
Shortly after Overholt's win, Luke Reilly (UBCD) added a silver medal same event, adding to his gold from the 400IM two days earlier.
David Hibberd (SFA) claimed his first Nationals win, taking the men's 50 Free, while Kierra Smith (LLSC) claimed the top prize in the women's 200 Breast. Peter Brothers wrapped up the SwimBC individual medalists at the 2013 Summer Nationals by taking the bronze in the men's 1500 Free.
