A transpositional error resulted in 11&U Girls 50/100 Fly times being listed incorrectly; they have now been corrected in the link below.
Coming out of the meeting of SwimBC's Technical Advisory Committee on Wednesday, October 1, the decision was made to implement a nominal increase (faster) to the time standards than would have been typical, but at the same time, making changes to the number of bonus (non-qualified) swims at AA and AAA Championships for the coming year.
It will still take two AAA times to qualify for AAA Championships, and likewise, two AA times to qualify for AA Championships; however, there will be a maximum of TWO bonus swims available to swimmers. Swimmers with three qualifying times will be able to enter one "bonus" event, while anyone looking to swim four or more events will need to have the qualifying time in each event entered.
In addition, for short course AAA Championships in March, stroke 50s will be incorporated as scoring events at the meet. The time standards for these events have been developed by mirroring the percentage deviation in 50 Fly, Back, and Breast, compared to the 100m qualifying standards for each of those strokes, that Swimming Canada employs for those same events at Canadian Age Group Championships.
Whether or not to include the stroke 50s at Long Course AAA Championships will be revisited after short course AAA Championships.
SwimBC's time standards are in .pdf format below; we will work to have a HyTek version available shortly. Also included below are the standards for Swimming Canada's events, as well as the Provincial Para-Swimming AAA Standards.
