Cochrane's Win Caps Commonwealth Games

The first day of swimming at the 2014 Commonwealth Games saw Ryan Cochrane (VAS/ISC) repeat as champion in 400 Free; the final day was a mirror of that, as he repeated as 1500m Commonwealth champion in a race that saw him post the fastest time in the world so far this year.

Cochrane won the men's 1500 Free in a time of 14:44.03 is just under half a second faster than Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri, and followed up on Brittany MacLean's bronze medal for Canada in the women's 800 Free on the previous night.

In other events on the closing day of competition, the women's 4x100 Medley Relay team which included Tera Van Beilen (UBCD) on the breastroke leg, picked up a bronze medal, as did Brooklyn Snodgrass from Calgary.
