Following the recent resignation of Rocco Meiring as Provincial Coach, Swim BC, the governing body for competitive swimming in the Province of British Columbia, is in search of a Provincial Performance Director to fill that key position between the Swim BC Performance Development Program and the member club system in BC.
Please find a full description of the position here.
Interested and qualified candidates should submit a cover letter and résumé, by February 15, 2015.
We thank all those that apply and advise that only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
Early last summer, prior to the end of the mutual "exploratory" period in his position, Rocco informed SwimBC that he would be unable to continue in the position due to pressing family issues back home in his native South Africa.
At that point, the board of SwimBC, very pleased with the direction that Rocco was taking the Provincial program, and with the strong positive feedback from the membership in general and the coaching community in particular, asked Rocco to continue on a contract basis from afar, with quarterly in-person visits.. Having done his best to make this work over the past few months, but not wholly pleased with the scope of work he was able to accomplish from such a great distance, Rocco ultimately decided that the position needed a full-time staff member in the role - a conclusion that the leadership of SwimBC agreed with.
As evidenced by his exemplary leadership of the Youth/Junior Provincial Squad camp this past weekend, Rocco will continue in the position until his successor is hired and in place.
