MAINTAINING REGISTRATION OF SWIMMERS CURRENTLY REGISTERED WITH A USPORTS OR OTHER VARSITY PROGRAM
On March 31, the "University – Varsity" registration category expires. It is valid Sept 1 – Mar 31.
Effective April 1, "University – Varsity" registered swimmers will no longer be registered unless they are concurrently registered with their home club in the Competitive Open-Varsity category.
If these swimmers are continuing to train and compete in April and beyond, they have two options.
- Prior to March 31 (or a meet entry deadline) the swimmer can be registered with their home club in the Competitive Open-Varsity category.
- After March 31 the swimmer can be registered with their home club in the Competitive Open category.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the university swimmer is competing at the Canadian Swimming Championships, they need to complete their Competitive Open-Varsity category registration prior to submission of entries on the meet entry deadline - March 26 and be representing their home club.
A swimmer at a NCAA university may be required to comply with NCAA compliance rules which prohibit representing their Canadian home club in a competition during the NCAA season. The association Unattached Varsity, UNVAR is designated for this situation. The swimmer is required to be registered with their Canadian Age Group home club and enter the competition representing UNVAR.
