CONNU Coach, Steve Sadownik, Passes Away

It is with profound sadness that we pass along the news that former CONNU Head Coach, Steve Sadownik, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday.  Steve was the Head Coach of the Fort St. John-based club for a number of years before stepping aside for his job in the energy sector.  He had continued as an assistant coach with the club since that time, working with the developmental levels within the club.

Below is the text of an email received from one of the club members informing us of his passing.

It is with deep personal regret that I inform you of the unexpected passing of our coach Steve Sadownik.  Yesterday we lost a dear friend, an amazing coach and a valued colleague.  He passed away suddenly while out for a run.  He was an integral part of the Inconnu Swim Club for many years.  His experience and his drive to be the best you can be, were felt by all the swimmers he coached.  I know he touched the lives of many in the swim community.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that for donations to the BC Children's Hospital in Steve's name.

UPDATE: A Celebration of Life for Steve Sadownik is taking place in Fort St. John, BC on Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 pm at the Northern Grand Hotel (9830 100 Avenue).
