Swim BC is pleased to welcome Brian Horan as our new Board President. Brian has served on the Swim BC Board of Directors since the 2022–2023 season, bringing extensive experience in sport, volunteer leadership and corporate governance. During his tenure on the Board, he has chaired both the Safe Sport and Nominations Committees while also contributing as a key member of the Finance Committee.
As Brian begins his new role, he reflects on the lifelong experiences that have shaped his connection to sport and the BC swimming community:
“Sport has been a defining part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Australia, I trained as a youth to become an Australian Rules Football umpire and went on to officiate matches for over a decade. After moving to British Columbia, I stayed involved in community sports by coaching youth soccer in Langley. Those past experiences taught me how sports instill drive, determination, and teamwork, qualities that carry into every aspect of an athlete’s life.
When my daughter began competitive swimming, our family quickly found a welcoming home in the BC swimming community. I started out as a swim parent and soon stepped into officiating, eventually earning my Level 3 certification. To support the sport from a governance perspective, I served on the boards of the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club from 2019 to 2020 and the Kelowna Aquajets from 2021 to 2023, building a foundation at the local level before joining the Swim BC Board of Directors in 2023.
Professionally, I bring 25 years of executive leadership across strategy, operations, finance, and governance. I feel privileged to step into the role of President, and I look forward to using this experience to support our clubs, athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers as we continue growing swimming across the province.”

We thank Jeannie for her leadership, commitment and many contributions to Swim BC and the provincial swimming community throughout her time as President.
