Swim BC is pleased to welcome Jason Terrillon to our Board of Directors. Based in Vancouver, Jason brings a lifelong connection to the BC swimming community and professional experience as a CPA in corporate accounting.
Jason began swimming at age five with the NSWC Marlins before joining Chena Swim Club and later competing for the UBC Thunderbirds. While at UBC, he represented the men’s swim team on the Athletics Council. He went on to coach with CDSC and Chena Swim Club, where he also served as Youth Program Director and Travel Coordinator.
As Jason joins the Board, he reflects on the role swimming has played in his life and the experience he hopes to bring to Swim BC:
“I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. Starting at the age of 5, I spent my summers swimming with the NSWC Marlins before making the jump to full-time competitive swimming in high school with Chena Swim Club. I went on to finish my competitive swimming career as a UBC Thunderbird. While at university, I began coaching with CDSC before eventually returning to my North Vancouver roots to coach with Chena Swim Club.
Swimming has always been a huge part of my life, and I credit the sport with helping shape me into the person I am today. As a competitive swimmer, I learned the value of hard work, dedication, and having a team behind you. As a coach, I gained a deeper understanding of what goes into running a club and saw firsthand the impact swimming can have on young people across BC. I also had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from the many athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who make swimming in this province such a special community.
Leaving the swimming world to enter the corporate world was a difficult decision, but it has given me skills and experience that I am excited to bring back to the sport. After earning my CPA designation and working with audit firms, I have developed a broad range of accounting and financial experience. I look forward to using that knowledge, along with my experiences as a swimmer and coach, to contribute to the organization and support the continued growth of swimming in BC.”
Swim BC looks forward to the perspective Jason will bring as a former athlete, coach and finance professional. We are pleased to welcome him to the Board and thank him for his commitment to supporting swimming across the province.
