2026 Masters Provincial Championships & Awards Banquet Recap

April 22, 2026

The 2026 Masters Provincial Championships took place April 17–19 in Kelowna, bringing together swimmers from across the province for a key event on the Masters calendar.

Hosted by the Masters Swimming Association of British Columbia and the Okanagan Masters Swim Club at the H2O Fitness & Adventure Centre, the meet featured a full weekend of competition, with strong performances recorded across multiple events. Several provincial records were broken, reflecting the high standard of racing throughout the championships.

The Champions Trophy, awarded to the team with the highest overall point total, was presented at the conclusion of the meet. Legacy Masters secured the title for the second consecutive year, following a consistent and high-scoring team performance.

Season-long results were also recognized through the presentation of League Trophies, based on cumulative points from eight sanctioned meets held between October 2025 and March 2026. This year’s divisional winners were:

Division 1 (Small Team, 1–30 members): North Shore Masters
Division 2 (Medium Team, 31–50 members): Coast Swim Team
Division 3 (Medium Large Team, 50–90 members): Legacy Masters
Division 4 (Large Team, 91+ members): White Rock Wave

The championships weekend also included the annual awards banquet, where MSABC presented its two Awards of Excellence.

Victoria Wallace of Coast Masters received the Ted Simpson Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding performances in both pool and open water events. Following a serious and life-threatening coronary diagnosis, Victoria underwent open-heart surgery in 2022 and began her return to competition in 2023. She has since achieved remarkable success, including winning the Triple Crown (200, 400, and 800 IM) at the Vernon meet in February, and continues to look ahead to the upcoming open water season.

Rob Traynor of Winskill Masters was honoured with the Stan Powell Memorial Service Award for his longstanding contributions to the sport. Over several decades, Rob has played a key role in meet management across British Columbia and with Swimming Canada. A familiar presence at the electronics desk at MSABC meets, including this year’s Provincials in Kelowna, he also provides essential behind-the-scenes support throughout the season. In addition to serving as a Meet Manager for the Ottermania long course meet each fall, Rob is widely recognized as a thoughtful and generous mentor within the swimming community.
