Congrats to all the BC Coaches who were selected to be apart of the 2021 Coach Development Groups. From Swimming Canada’s High Performance Director, John Atkinson “These groups are very important for the present and future of coaching in the current era of sport, not only in Canada, but in world swimming. We have had these coaching development groups running since 2014 and they are a targeted approach to development. We are looking to work with coaches who understand situations, work in a positive way with partners and then make any situation work for them and use that in developing their athletes and clubs. We also look at how coaches respond to situations, how they look to thrive and be leaders in a positive way, being solution focused.”

Swimming Canada has unfortunately announced the cancellation of the 2021 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships (May 21-23) and the combined 2021 Canadian Junior & Senior Swimming Championships (July 26 – August 2). CEO Ahmed El-Awadi said about the cancellation “Due to the high number of participants expected at these events, it would not be possible to put the proper distancing protocols in place to ensure these events run safely. In addition, the amount of travel required to attend these events was a major factor in the decision.” To read the full announcement, click here.
