World Record: Sebastian Massabie

April 12, 2024

Sebastian Massabie from the Pacific Sea Wolves broke the World Para Swimming World Record today in the S4 50m Butterfly while competing at the 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series USA in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Massibie’s time of 39.51 this morning bettered the previous record of 40.48 held by Darko Duric from Slovenia from 2012. Duric’s record was the gold medal swim of the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Massibie’s coach, Jy Lawrence, said of the swim, “Sebastian did a great job of executing the race plan and is in a great position going into European Open Championships next week in Portugal and the Paralympic Trials next month”.

Congratulations to Sebastian, coach Jy, and the Pacific Sea Wolves on this great performance.

The 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series USA continues through April 13th.
