British Columbia swimmers wrapped up the 2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships in Walnut, California, as part of a Canadian team that finished the meet with nine medals.
BC made its mark on the opening day of competition, with Sebastian Massabie (Pacific Sea Wolves) earning bronze in the men’s S5 50m butterfly with a time of 36.07.
Fernando Lu (Olympians Swimming) also reached the podium, helping Canada capture bronze in the mixed 34-point 4x100m medley relay. The Canadian team finished in 4:40.11, setting a new national record.
Massabie and Lu were joined at the championships by fellow BC swimmers Mary Jibb (Pacific Sea Wolves) and Ken Stroud (Olympians Swimming).
Canada completed the meet with two gold, four silver and three bronze medals, along with one Americas record and three Canadian records.
The championships also provided valuable international racing experience as Canada continues its preparations toward the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
