2024 BC Provincial Open Water Championships

Swim BC is pleased to present the 2024 BC Open Water Championships, hosted by Simon Fraser Aquatics at a new course. This year’s competition will be held at White Pine Beach at Sasamat Lake in Port Moody on Friday, June 14, 2024.

LOCATION

Sasamat Lake is located within Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody, British Columbia. It is one of the warmest lakes in Metro Vancouver, making it an attractive destination for swimmers and outdoor enthusiasts. The lake is surrounded by a lush forest, which provides a scenic backdrop and contributes to the serene atmosphere of the area. The lake’s clear waters and natural surroundings make it an ideal location for open water swimming events.

The lake is accessible via White Pine Beach, which is known for its sandy shores and is a family-friendly location. The beach area provides amenities such as picnic tables, washrooms, and parking, making it well-equipped to host visitors and events.

There is a trail that loops the lake, making it easy for spectators to follow swimmers around the course and opportunities for great photographs.

The lake’s setting, characterized by its tranquility and accessibility, makes it a prime location for such a prestigious event.

Sasamat Lake is centrally located, about an hour’s drive from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal, Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX). As the event is on a Friday, we recommend giving extra time for the tail-end of the rush hour traffic.
