With the 2025 Winter Provincial Championships (March 6-9 in Victoria) just around the corner, Swim BC is calling for volunteers to help ensure the success of this exciting event. To show our gratitude, we are offering FOUR $1,000 bursaries, which can be used towards club fees or team travel.

HOW TO ENTER:

  • Every session you volunteer = 1 entry
  • Max 2 entries per day
  • 1 draw per day during the meet (March 6-9)
  • The more you help, the better your chances!

 

ELIGIBILITY:

This draw is open to all volunteers and officials – except Senior Officials.

 From timers to marshals, every role is essential in making this event a success.

Swim BC Executive Director Ken Radford Announces Retirement

After years of dedicated leadership, Ken Radford has announced his retirement as Executive Director of Swim BC, effective May 30, 2025.

Under Ken’s guidance, Swim BC has regained its position as a leading Provincial Sport Organization, fostering growth, stability, and innovation in the swimming community. His commitment to the sport, from championing athlete development to steering Swim BC through significant transitions—most recently, the implementation of a new national registration system—has left a lasting impact.

Ken remains fully committed to leading Swim BC through the coming months with his characteristic energy and drive. While we will celebrate his contributions in due course, we extend our gratitude and best wishes as he prepares for this next chapter.

Swimmer Registration Status in REMS – Eligibility for Swim Meets

To be eligible for swim meets, swimmers must have an ACTIVE status in REMS. This is achieved when their personal information is updated, all required waivers are signed, and all invoices are marked as paid in REMS.

Please note that the activation process may take up to three (3) weeks due to the process by which clubs pay Swim BC and Swimming Canada invoices through Swim BC. Both organizations then independently mark the invoices as paid in REMS.

Registrant Membership Status Options

Eligibility Requirements for Divisionals and Provincials

To be eligible for Divisionals and Provincials, swimmers must have an ACTIVE status in REMS. This status is achieved when:

  1. Personal Information: The swimmer’s personal information is updated in REMS.
  2. Required Waivers: All required waivers are signed in REMS.
  3. Invoices: All invoices are marked as paid in REMS.

Important: Swimmers must have active status before the entry deadline to be eligible for Divisionals and Provincials. Please plan accordingly to avoid any delay.

Entries submitted without a valid registration number and active status in the REMS at the time of the entry deadline will be denied entry. It is the responsibility of the swimmer’s club to ensure all athletes have an ‘ACTIVE’ registration status in REMS.

 

 

 

Swim BC Holiday Hours

Please be advised that to Swim BC office will be closed for the winter holidays from Dec 23, 2024 and returning on Jan 6th, 2025.

The Swimming Canada office will be closed from December 23 to January 4, with staff resuming work on Monday, January 6.

For REMS support over the holidays, tickets can still be submitted. The SportLomo Team will monitor tickets on December 23-24, 27, 30-31, and January 2-3. Please note that response times may be slower during this period.

Swim BC is now accepting nominations for the Volunteer of the Year award for review by the Awards Committee.

Criteria:

The Swim BC Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to a Swim BC member who has displayed outstanding contributions to the sport of competitive swimming through leadership and volunteerism to make a positive impact as:

  • A club volunteer, Swim BC or Affiliated Board Member, or Swim Official who saw a need and responded
  • Promoted and supported the development of volunteer networks in their local organization
  • Has been involved in swimming for at least three (3) years
