Athletes from across Western Canada will converge for this inaugural event, marking the launch of an annual competition designed to unite the region’s top talent and provide a high-quality racing opportunity each season.

The weekend also featured the annual awards banquet, where MSABC recognized this year’s Awards of Excellence recipients.

Nathan Stein, from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, built a 20‑year swimming career defined by resilience, adaptability, and the people who supported him along the way. He began his journey with the BC Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) before transitioning into year‑round swimming, gaining experience with Simon Fraser Aquatics and the Haney Seahorse Swim Club (now Ridge Meadows Swim Club), before ultimately finding a long‑term home with the Surrey Knights Swim Club.

Willem Hergesheimer’s swimming journey in British Columbia reflects both a deep commitment to the sport and a lasting appreciation for the community around it.
From competing on national and international stages, including the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, Western Canada Summer Games, Age Group Championships, and the Paul Bergen International, to returning to the BC Swimming community as a coach, Willem reflects on how the sport has shaped his mindset beyond competition and supported a lifelong approach to being fit for life.

We are seeking a paid Event and Administration Intern to join our team at the Swim BC office in Victoria, BC. This opportunity is intended for current post-secondary students and provides hands-on experience in sport governance, event delivery, athlete services, and organizational operations.

The 2026 Winter BC Provincial Championship, hosted by Swim BC and Pacific Coast Swimming (UVPCS), took place at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria from March 5–8, 2026. The event brought together 660 swimmers from 44 clubs for an exciting weekend of high-level competition.

The 2026 Winter Divisionals were held February 20–22 across three regions in British Columbia, providing competition opportunities for swimmers throughout the province.

With the 2026 Winter Provincial Championships (March 5-8 at Saanich Commonwealth Place) just around the corner, Swim BC is calling for volunteers to help ensure the success of this exciting event.

The countdown to championship season is underway, with the 2026 Winter Divisionals set to begin in two weeks.

Swim BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Hughanna Gaw as the organization’s new Manager, Member Services, effective January 19, 2025.

Swim BC is currently seeking applicants to join the Awards Committee.
The Awards Committee is an advisory group responsible for reviewing and recommending recipients for Swim BC’s annual awards, as well as external honours such as Sport BC and Swimming Canada awards. Committee members also provide input on award criteria to help recognize outstanding contributions to the sport of swimming in British Columbia.

Swim BC hosted the first of two provincial distance camps from November 14–16 at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool, marking a key step in efforts to strengthen endurance training across the Canadian swimming landscape. The camp series is part of a broader initiative led by Swimming Canada to promote an endurance-focused approach within the club system and enhance the sharing of aerobic training principles nationwide.

British Columbia swimmers delivered a series of strong performances at the UBC University Cup Pacific, a short-course varsity competition held this past weekend at the UBC Aquatic Centre. The meet brought together some of the province’s top university and development athletes, showcasing depth across both varsity and Team BC lineups.

The University of British Columbia will host swimmers from across the province and country this weekend for the 2025 UBC University Cup Pacific, a short-course varsity competition running from November 8–9, 2025, hosted at the UBC Aquatics Center.

British Columbia swimmers delivered a series of strong performances as the 2025 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup concluded this weekend at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. The Toronto meet marked the final stop of the three-leg short-course series, following competitions in Carmel, Indiana, and Westmont, Illinois.

Swim BC is proud to announce the appointment of Savannah King as our new Director of Coach and Performance Development.

A two-time Olympian and former Canadian record holder, King brings a wealth of high-performance experience to the role, both in and out of the pool. Over the past decade, she has established herself as a respected coach and leader in Canadian swimming, most recently serving as Associate Head Coach of McGill University’s Varsity Swim Team. Her coaching résumé also includes roles with the Canadian Swim Coaches Association and Swimming Canada’s coaching staff at the 2021 and 2024 Short Course World Championships.

VANCOUVER, BC – The 2025 BC Summer Provincial Championship, hosted by Vancouver Pacific Swim Club (VPSC), took place at the UBC Aquatic Centre from July 17–20, marking the conclusion of the long-course season with four days of competition. A total of 613 swimmers from 39 clubs across the province competed in 3,294 individual and relay events. Over the course of the meet, 43 meet records were broken.

With the 2025 Summer Provincial Championships (July 17-20, 2025) just around the corner, Swim BC is calling for volunteers to help ensure the success of this exciting event. To show our gratitude, we are offering FOUR $1,000 bursaries, which can be used towards club fees or team travel. June 1–7 | Saanich Commonwealth Place, Victoria, BC

The 2025 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, hosted at the Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria, BC, brought together Canada’s top swimmers for six days of elite racing, national team selections, and milestone performances. The Trials served as the selection event for upcoming international competitions, Swim BC athletes demonstrated exceptional strength, technical precision, and competitive drive across all event categories - senior, junior, and para.

Club Representation and Swimmer Participation

Swimmers from across the province contributed to a strong BC presence at the competition, with 174 athletes from 27 clubs competing in a total of 759 events.

Swim BC is proud to announce the selection of swimmers who will represent British Columbia at the 2025 Canada Summer Games, taking place in St. John’s, Newfoundland from August 10–15, 2025, with team travel dates from August 7–17. The Canada Games is a vital stepping stone for young athletes across the country and a celebration of sport excellence and teamwork.

Following a comprehensive search process, Elmar emerged as the ideal candidate to lead Swim BC into its next chapter, bringing a wealth of experience in sport leadership, a deep passion for swimming, and a proven track record of organizational growth and community engagement.
