2018 SwimBC Women in Coaching Initiative

In an effort to provide opportunities for women to rise to more prominent roles in the coaching profession, SwimBC, with the endorsement of the BCSCA, will be offering scholarships for two women to attend the Swimming 301 course being offered in Whistler in September 2018.

Each scholarship will be equal to the registration fee for the course.

Interested individuals are to submit a letter of application to SwimBC Performance Director, Mike Flegel (mike@swimbc.ca), stating their current coaching credentials, their coaching situation (position, level of athletes), coaching aspirations, and any other pertinent information.

Coaches must meet the following requirements:

  • A woman registered and in good standing with SwimBC, Swimming Canada, CSCTA, BCSCA
  • At least 20 years of age as of the start of the course
  • Minimum NCCP status of Age Group Coach (Level 2) “Trained” (have completed Swimming201 course)
  • In the process of completing Level 3 pre-course work, including the pre-course workbook and multi-sport modules

Receipt of all applications will be acknowledged, but only those chosen for the scholarship will be notified of selection.

Applications will be reviewed by SwimBC Performance Director and NCCP Coordinator to identify the successful candidates.

Applications must be received by March 31, 2018.
