IMPORTANT Changes to CDN. Age Group Champs

Changes to Bonus Swims for younger age groups

The 2010 Canadian Age Group Championships are scheduled to take place July 21 –– 26, 2010, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Certain age groups: Girls 12&U, Boys 13&U, Girls 13 years old and Boys 14 years old, do not have qualifying standards for some stroke 50s and 100s. The following changes have been made to the Bonus Swims for these age groups:

For the Girls 12&U and Boys 13&U age groups, if a swimmer has a qualifying time in a 200m event, they may enter the 50 and/or 100 of that corresponding stroke without these swims counting towards their bonus swims (to a maximum of 8 individual swims for the meet). If the 50 and/or 100 are selected, they will be seeded as a qualifying time.

For the Girls 13 year and Boys 14 year age groups, if a swimmer has a qualifying time in a 100m event, they may enter the 50 of that corresponding stroke without this swim counting towards their bonus swims (to a maximum of 8 individual swims for the meet). If the 50 is selected, it will be seeded as a qualifying time.

Example: In the Girls 12 & under age group, there are no qualifying standards in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. If a swimmer in this age group has a qualifying time in the 200 Freestyle, they may enter the 50 and/or the 100 Freestyle events without these swims counting as bonus swims. This swimmer is still limited to maximum of 8 individual swims for the meet.
