The 2016 Swimming Canada Age Group Championships, running in Calgary July 27-31, with Open Water on August 1, have been a very productive one for SwimBC clubs.
With this meet being supplanted by Canadian Junior Championships, this is the last iteration of this meet in its current format, so many swimmers are wanting to finish this meet off with a bang.
Bailey Herbert (LOSC) is one of those swimmers. She followed up two silver-medal performances on Day 1 with three golds (400IM, 200 Fly, 200 Breast) over the next two nights.
Octavia Lau (HYACK) with two golds and a relay bronze thus far in the meet, established a new SwimBC record for 13-14 girls in the prelims 50 Free (26.65), which she went on to win in finals.
Stephanie Lee (PSW) has won 50 and 200 Back, as well as 100 Free, adding in silvers in 50 Free and 100 Fly for good measure; her 50 Free time of 27.23 was good enough to break the SwimBC record for 11-12 girls. And Ashley McMillan (KISU) won 400IM and 800 Free, while adding silver in 1500 Free.
On the boys side, Ryley McRae (KCS) is off to a good start, having won 100-200 Fly; similarly Brian Yu (RAPID) has won both 50 Free and 50 Breast.
In the team points race, HYACK in 6th and UVPCS in 7th represent the SwimBC clubs in the Top10 out of the 110+ clubs in the meet.
