The final day of the final Canadian Age Group Swimming Championships wrapped up at the Talisman Centre in Calgary on the final day of July, with SwimBC athletes once again having a superb showing to wrap up the meet.
As on the previous night, the first set of events was extremely fruitful, as Ashley McMillan (KISU), Bailey Herbert (LOSC), Faith Knelson (LCSC) and Brodie Young (HYACK) each won their respective age group's 200 IM. Also medaling in that event were silver medalist Amanda McCallum (RAPID), and bronze medalists Joshua Kim (LOSC) and Tyler Wall (KISU).
400 Free was another strong event for the kids from BC, as Sophie Lorette (UVPCS), Octavia Lau (HYACK), and Megan Dalke (KCS) won gold there, with silver medals coming from Nicolas Duke (CHENA), Alex Woinoski (SFA), Kyla Ross (ISC), Anthony Gutierrez (UVPCS), and Brooke Wenger (CRKW), and McMillan winning a bronze.
Picking up his first medal of the meet, and making it count with gold, was Eric Louie (CONNU), who won 50 Fly by almost half a second. Also winning medals in 50 Fly were Stephanie Lee (PSW), Ryley McRae (KCS), and Knelson with silvers, and Skyeler Kerr (CONNU) picking up a bronze.
4x100 Medley Relay medals came from UVPCS with gold in 13&U boys and bronze in 13-14 girls, and CHENA taking silver in the 16-18yr. boys.
Stephanie Lee's performances over the course the week earned her the 12&U girls top point-scoring aggregate award,
In team scoring, UVPCS was the top SwimBC club (sixth), with HYACK immediately behind them and PSW also cracking the Top10. Making the Top20 were ISC, KISU, KCS, CHENA, and RAPID, placing 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 20th, respectively.
