The Golden Flipper Butterfly Challenge wrapped up at the end of August. After a season of competition, British Columbia has won the Golden Flipper Challenge!
National Coaches Week
September 17-25, 2022 is National Coaches Week, a time to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This week is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach.
FINA SWIMMING WORLD CUP – TORONTO
Swimming Canada has released the invitation list for Canadian swimmers for the FINA Swimming World Cup in Toronto, October 28th through October 30th, 2022. Swim BC swimmers are well represented with 64 invited to compete and another 22 on the alternates list.
SWIM SCHOOL – COACH REGISTRATION
Swim BC has launched a sessional registration category this season. To help support the sessional Swim School registration, we are opening up a Swim School coach registration category.

Swim BC is looking for interested and qualified candidates to assist the operations of the organization in the following roles:

BC Swimming Congress
Planning is well underway for the annual BC Swimming Congress, held at the Westin Hotel in Whistler, Sept 30, Oct 1, and Oct 2. Swim BC is planning an extensive offering for Club Delegates – the Club Development Seminars will feature topics to assist clubs in their growth, development and a better understanding of their critical role.
Day 5, 6 & 7
Canada Games wrapped up on Friday after 6 days of competition. BC athletes stormed the competition with numerous podium finishes during the last 3 days.
Canada Games Day 3 & 4
Canada Games continues on in Niagra. The swimming competition has been strong, with BC bringing home a number of medals during Day 3 & 4.
Canada Games
2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagra are taking place from August 6th - 21st. Swim BC has a selected group of athletes representing Team BC at the games. The swimming competition is being held at Brock University, Eleanor Misener Aquatics Centre.
Canada Games Day 1 & 2
Canada Games kicked off on August 6th with Opening Ceremonies. Team BC has a contingent of 382 Athletes competing, 27 of which are Swim BC athletes! BC athletes came together for the first provincial Pep Rally of the games to set the tone for the competition.
Canadian Junior & Senior Championship Summary
The Canadian Junior & Senior Championships wrapped up on August 1st. 114 BC swimmers representing 24 clubs travelled to Montreal to compete. 92 medals were won by BC swimmers, 31 of which were Gold!

Swim School Registration
Over the past several months Swim BC has been examining opportunities to assist clubs’ options to grow their programming, to evolve their membership catchment, and where the opportunity exists, to expand the development base within their club.
CANADIAN JUNIOR & SENIOR SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 3
Day 3 was another strong day for BC swimmers, with 44 A Final swims and 15 medals. Laon Kim broke the Provincial and National Age Group records in the 13-14 Boys 800m Free LC
Canadian Junior & Senior Swimming Championships – Day 2
Day 2 of the Canadian Junior & Senior Swimming Championships wrapped up last night. BC swimmers had 43 A Final swims and brought home 20 medals.

The 2022 Canadian Junior & Senior Swimming Championships are taking place in Montreal from July 25th through August 1st.
New Provincial Records
3 new provincial records were set during the BC Summer Provincial Championships. Congrats to the following swimmers on your incredible achievement.
BC Open Water Championships
The BC Open Water Championships took place on Monday, July 18th at Albert Dyck Park in Abbotsford with over 100 participating swimmers.
BC Summer Provincial Championship Review
The BC Provincial Championships saw 570 swimmers attending from 35 teams at the UBC Aquatic Centre. Congratulations to the swimmers, coaches, and teams on their performances.
Spectators at BC Summer Provincials
Swim BC, together with host Vancouver Pacific Swim Club and UBC Aquatic Centre, are pleased to announce that a limited number of spectator spaces will be made available for each session of the 2022 BC Summer Provincial Championships
NEW SWIM BC STAFF MEMBERS
We’re very pleased to announce the hire of two new staff members at Swim BC.
DIVISIONALS REVIEW
The weekend of June 24 – 26th saw 917 swimmers from 43 clubs competing at the three Swim BC Divisional Swim Meets. These meets were wildly successful, with many great performances posted at each competition. Congratulations to all participants.
Golden Flipper Results June
Golden Flipper results for June are now posted! BC is still holding a strong lead in the overall points. There was a lot of movement in the Team Scores this month.
New National Record
Last weekend, a new National Record was set at the Fraser & Island Divisonals. Laon Kim of Hyack Swim Club broke the short course 13-14 200m Individual Medley record.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 90 DAY NOTICE
Swim BC will be holding our Annual General Meeting at 1 pm on October 1st, 2022 at the Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler during the BC Swimming Congress.
Head to Head Swim Clinic
Our friends at Head to Head are hosting a Swim Clinic in Vancouver with Yuri Kisil! The clinic is being hosted on July 23rd & July 24th at St. George's School.
Swim BC Summer Provincial Championships
BC Summer Provincial Championships will be hosted from July 14th to 17th by VPSC at UBC Aquatic Centre. BC Open Water Championships will be hosted on July 18th by SFA at Albert Dyck Park.
